The Story Garden is a quaint charming community garden found at 35th and Humboldt Ave in the Folwell Neighborhood.
It is an open growing space for all residents to grow and harvest. There are no assigned plots, but there is a snack-able path to create excitement around fresh food for all the youth in the neighborhood.
The garden was started in 2015 in response to a tornado that left the lot empty in 2011. It has since grown into a neighborhood gathering space for spoken word events, movies, potlucks and story time around a bonfire.
The Camden Lions are the official sponsor of the Story Garden. They provide funding for the Hydrant to be used to water the garden and keep it sustainable for the growing season. Story garden events are funded through Thrivent’s “Community Action Plan” micro grants applied for through community members and local supporters of the work.
