Sewer Line Improvements

Metropolitan Council Sewer Improvements near Lake Harriet

The Metropolitan Council will be working to remove and replace a half-block stretch of sewer pipe on 47th Street between Washburn Avenue and Vincent Avenue South beginning Wednesday, Jan. 27. This work must be completed during the winter when seasonal flooding risks are minimal and requires that the ground has thoroughly frozen to ensure worker safety.

The work will include discharging groundwater into Lake Harriet, which may result in thin ice or open water near the discharge area. The area affected will be clearly marked with fencing and signage noting the possibility of thin ice.

For more information about this work, view this Project Update [PDF] posted by the Metropolitan Council that can be found on their website.
